The 4th of July is the best holiday for obvious reasons; food, drinks, friends, celebrating America and fireworks. But, it always comes out the next day about people getting injured from fireworks (almost as if people will never learn) and this time, 2 NFL players ended up losing fingers! It’s mind boggling to me, I mean, your hands are the most important part of your job and you’re going to risk that by playing with fireworks! Absolutely unreal. And now you’ve lost some fingers and possibly your job; you already lost the $60 million you were going to get. It’s irresponsible. New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul ended up having his right index finger amputated (which just so happens to be that finger he’s pointing with in the above picture) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB C.J. Wilson lost 2 fingers.
Why are you playing with fireworks, seriously. It it really worth it? I bet now those guys are saying no. Maybe they’ll come out and be spokesman for people against fireworks and try to get back some of that money they lost. And this should be a lesson for a lot of people, but it will fall on deaf ears. I have pretty bad firework anxiety, mostly because I’m nervous something is going to go wrong and there will be a massive explosion. Pierre-Paul and Wilson obviously do not share the same anxiety as me.
And now, Pierre-Paul’s medical records have been leaked, and that’s just all sorts of wrongs. Who did this? My money is either a reporter bribed a nurse to get it for a large sum of money, or if the records were released to the Giants and Adam Schefter got someone to release it through there. No way did Pierre-Paul allow this, that’s basically saying “yeah, here’s my injuries, I’m not worth the 60 million you were going to give me.”
Folks and professional athletes, let’s leave the fireworks to the professionals, okay? But, I am very intrigued as to how Pierre-Paul is going to do this season. Will he have a special glove on his right hand with a fake finger in there? Or will he cut the right index finger away and leave it open as an intimidation factor? We’ll see come September.
