Alex Torres is trying to be a safety trend setter. After watching Alex Cobb take a line drive to the head in 2013, Torres decided to create a hat with extra padding in hopes of protecting himself. This is the second version of the hat Torres has designed, this version being lighter than first. The first generation hat looked more like Mario and Luigi and was much more bulky. Now, this one is much simpler, all in hopes of protecting the pitcher, and the MLB has approved both versions. So, will the MLB make this a priority for all pitchers? Or will it become an available for players to wear if they choose? Only time will tell.
