These Toronto Blue Jays are on fire, seriously, you can’t extinguish their bats. Since the All-Star break, the Jays have homered in 17 of 18 of their past games, with 10 multi-homer games. Edwin Encarnacion hit his 20th home run, Josh Donaldson hit his 29th of the season and Jose Bautista hit is 5th career grand slam. Fun fact: Donaldson has tied his career high in home runs and the Blue Jays still have 53 games left in the season. I’m thinking Donaldson is going to reach a 40 home run season easily, 11 more home runs is pretty doable in the next 50+ games. Although the Jays did give up 4 runs in the 5th, they locked it down and shut the Twins out for the rest of the game, even allowing new Blue Jay LaTroy Hawkins to earn the save. Hawkins has now recorded a save against every MLB team, something only 12 other relievers have done.

If the regular season were to end today, the Blue Jays would have the 2nd Wild Card in the AL. Ever since they made the big trade for Troy Tulowitzki, they’ve gone 7-1 and are now only 4.5 games behind the New York Yankees for 1st place in the AL East. Good news is they have 13 more games between the Yankees before the season is over. Some more good news? Marcus Stroman is set to throw off a mound this week and is eyeing an August 21st rehab stint, most likely in Florida. Until then, jump on the Blue Jays Bandwagon now before it’s too late.
